Fragrance and Colour Garden
In this enclosed garden, not far from the Empress Charlotte entrance, you will find plants from which we extract fragrances and colours. You might have expected species such as jasmine or rose, but what are carrots, woad, or woodruff doing here? You’ll find out when you browse around the flowerbeds.
If you walk through our scented tunnel of Cercidiphyllum japonicum on an autumn day, you will smell freshly baked biscuits! And in April the hedge is fragrant..
By the way, did you know that food is often coloured with plants and that the most expensive aromas are plant-based?
