Winter FLoridylle - Practical information

Wanneer is WinterFloridylle open?

Meise Botanic Garden closes its gates for the day visitors as usually at 5:00 pm. From 6:00 pm onwards the gates open again for the WinterFloridylle. You can only enter through the main entrance Empress Charlotte (Nieuwelaan 38). Both the trail and the wonderful winter village are open from 6:00 pm till 11:00 pm. 

The course is accessible between 6 pm and 11 pm.  In order to make your course as pleasant as possible, we provide time slots. The last slot is from 9 pm until 9:30 pm. You can enter the Botanic Garden during the half hour of the time slot you have chosen. 
Once inside the Botanic Garden, feel free to take your time and go at your own pace. The Garden does not close until 11pm.

How long is the light festival walk?

The walking tour is about 3,5 kilometres long. You choose your own pace. Take your time to fully experience the magical atmosphere.

Is the light festival trail accessible for everyone?

Yes, for all, for romantic walkers, groups of friends, families… The whole trail is extremely suitable for children and accessible for wheelchair users. You also go through the Plant Palace.

What to wear?

You want to enjoy the enchanting atmosphere. Bear in mind that the roads of the domain can be muddy. Walking shoes or rubber boots are therefore a good idea, as are warm clothes. Don't forget your umbrella if it rains. 

Drinks & Food

At the start and end of the trail, you can enjoy a snack and a drink in the Winter Village on the Welcoming Square from 5.30 pm to 11 pm.

During the walk you can take a break at our KAWA bar for a hot chocolate, mulled wine or gin. 

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed in the Botanic Garden, with the exception of guide dogs.

What about rain or snow?

In rainy or snowy weather, the Winter Floridylle will also take place. Warmly wrapped up and wearing appropriate footwear, enjoying the splendour of light in the Botanic Garden remains magical.

Can tickets be exchanged?

Tickets can neither be revoked, refunded, replaced nor extended.

Is the Gardenshop open during the WinterFloridylle?

During Winter Floridylle you can visit our cosy Gardenshopl at the Empress Charlotte Entrance (Nieuwelaan 38). You will find original gifts and delicacies for your festive table. It promises to be a wonderfully tasty edition! 

How to keep it pleasant for everyone?

Please help us to keep the Botanic Garden clean. Do you still have rubbish? Throw it in the dustbins or take it with you. Do not touch the light installations and do not move any crush barriers or signposts. Everyone after you also wants to enjoy the depicted trail.

How to reach Meise Botanic Garden?

Do you want to arrive completely relaxed in the Botanic Garden? Take your bike, the bus, the train or come by foot. Or carpool with some friends. The number of parking places in the surroundings of the Botanic Garden is limited.

By bike

The bike parking is located at Entrance Empress Charlotte.

By bus

The "Meise Plantentuin" bus stop is just inside the Empress Charlotte entrance. Plan your route here.

By train

Take the train to Brussels-North or Londerzeel. You can find up-to-date travel information here.

By car

Meise Botanic Garden is located along the A12 (Brussels-Antwerp). Take exit 3 Meise and follow the signs to Plantentuin Meise. 

Parking is available at the following locations:

  • The new car park opposite the entrance to the Botanical Gardens (280 spaces)
  • Car parks along the Nieuwelaan. - Car parks on the Brusselsesteenweg (Meise). - The car park at the Boechtlaan/Nieuwelaan crossroads.
    Please note: it is forbidden to park on the pavement!
    Do not park on the muddy verges (risk of getting stuck).

 

Are there flashes of light on the course?

We would like to warn people who are photosensitive that light effects such as flickering lights and light flashes will be used during the Winter Floridylle.
