King of the deciduous trees
Oak trees
In Belgium there are two native species of oak tree; the sessile and the pedunculate oak. Worldwide, there are probably more than 500 species of oaks.
Our oak collection, located next to the Rose Garden, displays the enormous diversity that exists within the genus Quercus with around 100 species. The oaks are planted here as solitary specimens and also grouped according to relatedness. The presence of some endangered species ensures that our collection also enjoys international prestige.
In autumn you can enjoy beautiful colours, acorns, and leaves in many shapes and even some evergreen oaks!
