Straight from the garden
Each year, annual and biennial plants are sown in Meise Botanic Garden. In order to provide enough seeds for this sowing, we continuously harvest seeds from our own plant collection. In addition, we also collect seeds of important perennial species for research purposes and for exchange with other institutions. The list of available seeds can be found here .
We store the seeds of more than 1,000 plant species for a relatively short period of time, at a temperature of 15°C and low humidity (15% RH). Because the seeds are used and replaced regularly, freezing is not necessary. Seeds that you harvest from your own garden are also best kept cool and dry.
