Meise Botanic Garden welcomes 250 000th visitor
On 28 December, Meise Botanic Garden celebrated its 250,000th visitor of the year. The botanical garden has thus achieved its ambitious target of doubling the number of visitors in 10 years (2014-2024).
The lucky winner, Lieselotte Janssens from Edegem, received a certificate, a gift box containing a selection of exclusive products from the garden's boutique and a guest card giving her free access to the botanic garden for a year. She was welcomed personally by Steven Dessein, General Administrator of the Botanic Garden.
"I'm very proud of this milestone we've reached thanks to the dedication and hard work of all the staff and volunteers. Together, they are helping to shape the 'Botanic Garden of the Future'." The turning point was announced in 2014, when, thanks to the support of the Flemish government, the Botanic Garden's master plan was born; an ambitious project that has led to the construction of new themed gardens, the HOUTlab, the Green Arch, modern visitor infrastructure and a brand new garden shop, among other things. We will continue these efforts until 2025, with the opening of a new restaurant and the commissioning of a car park to provide an even better welcome for visitors". - Steven Dessein, General Manager of the Meise Botanical Garden.
