The Herbarium series unfolds as an intimate exploration of the plant world. More than a simple botanical observation, Herbarium immerses us in a visual and symbolic play in which the plants do not give themselves away.

Each plant, isolated from its natural environment, is photographed against an even white background, with a particular attention to detail, hues, delicate and subtle textures. The light is soft and homogeneous, erasing shadows to highlight the purity and complexity of each leaf, each work of art, and the complexity of each leaf, twig and inflorescence.

This neutral, bright background, stripped of all noise, acts as a revealer. It highlights lines, shapes, textures and contrasts. Printed on Canson cotton paper, the lines of the pictures blur: the white of the background merges with that of the support, creating a visual ambiguity.

This work invites the visitor to slow down, to take the time to look closely at each flower, to study the colour nuances, the different textures that are the hallmark of each species. It deepens our relationship to nature, to living things, to the ephemeral and to beauty. It confronts us with the invisible, with the unconscious of forms, with the multiple meanings that emerge from a simple plant portrait.
